The
IOLAN+ Series is a range of feature rich
TCP/IP terminal communications servers which
enables serial devices to be connected directly
to LANs. The serial devices can be terminals,
printers, modems, bar code readers or any
other RS-232 devices. IOLAN+ uses a standard
Ethernet physical connection and TCP/IP
for the software connection. Serial connections
using RS232 enable IOLAN+ to connect to
a wide range of devices.
IOLAN+ implements the full nine pin connection
on both the DB25 and the RJ45 connectors,
which many vendors ignore. This allows even
the most complex devices such as high speed
modems to be connected directly to the lOLAN+
and fully controlled without loss of data
or performance even at 115.2Kbps. IOLAN+
is available in a variety of different packaging
styles including stand-alone and rack-mount.
With lOLAN+’s flexibility it can be
used in a large number of applications,
from workgroup computing to remote access.
IOLAN+ has the performance to handle a diverse
range of high speed devices in complex applications
environments and can transmit and receive
data at speeds of up to 115.2k baud. To
achieve this high speed and to maintain
a high throughput, IOLAN+ utilises the performance
of RISC based CD180 UARTs in combination
with highly tuned firmware. IOLAN+ can provide
users with up to four network connections
per port, with a maximum of 64 connections
per 16 port IOLAN+. Ports can be configured
for dedicated connections to a pre-selected
host for security and for ease of use. Users
can select between 10 pre-configured hosts
or use DNS support to reach others. Administrators
can simply gain access to any IOLAN+ on
the network using Telnet. This important
facility allows easy remote configuration
and diagnostics. IOLAN+ also supports the
SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol)
at MIB 1, MIB ll, Character MIB and Chase
specific enterprise variables. Using SNMP,
the network or system administrator can
monitor conditions on the network, often
anticipating problems and correcting them
before the user has noticed.
