| RocketPort™
Serial Hubs |
| Providing
up to 8 native COM ports over Ethernet or
4 ports using USB. |
|
|
The
RocketPort™ Serial Hub Si is an Ethernet-attached
2, 4 or 8 port serial expansion device with
each port software selectable to RS232/422/2-wire
485. It provides native COM ports that deliver
all the performance of an in-server card,
with speeds up to 230 Kbps. The RocketPort™
Serial Hub Si includes dual hosting for
added reliability and ease of management.
A software driver, NS-LinkTM, allows the
operating system to identify and transparently
access the serial ports just as if they
were inside the server. Ethernet allows
the RocketPort™ Serial Hub Si to be
anywhere on the LAN. NS-Link can also be
installed in a back-up server which can
then be used to operate the attached serial
devices if the primary server fails. The
RocketPort™ Serial Hub Si uses either
TCP/IP or MAC addressing for greater flexibility.
The RocketPort™ Serial Hub Si is the
ideal solution for any multiport serial
application including:
• Data collection
• Process control
• Internet/intranet access
• Remote access
• The USB hubs offer an economical
way for Windows 98/2000 users to add additional
RS232 or RS422 ports
• Modem pooling
• Broadcast faxing
• Quick, easy-install simply plug
the RocketPort™ Serial Hub into the
LAN and install the NS-Link driver
• Two, four or eight native COM ports-once
the RocketPort™ Serial Hub is installed,
the ports appear as standard COM ports,
accessible by any application
• LAN-attached solution-Ethernet connectivity
allows you to locate the serial ports a
considerable distance from the server. TCP/IP
or MAC addressing
• Multiple serial interfaces supported-
Each serial port can be software configured
for either RS232, RS422 or 2-wire RS485
• Hot swappability if the RocketPort™
Serial Hub ever needs servicing it can be
swapped with a new unit without server
shutdown
