Our
new POWERLINK extends your SCSI bus up to
10Km while supporting a maximum SCSI data
rate of 40 MBytes per second. Now you can
fully utilize Ultra Wide SCSI performance,
available in the latest generation of computers
and peripheral devices, without needing
to collectively locate their system resources.
POWERLINK provides real time access to remote
peripheral devices such as RAID arrays,
tape libraries, optical jukeboxes and CD-ROM
towers that are located up to 10Km from
the host computer.
POWERLINK conforms to ANSI X3.131 and X3T9.2
specifications and is SCSI-1, SCSI-2, and
SCSI-3 compatible. To support the full range
of SCSI peripherals available in the marketplace,
POWERLINK comes equipped with both narrow
and wide SCSI connectors and is available
in single-ended or differential SCSI versions.
The single-ended version can operate with
a differential unit to provide conversion
from one SCSI bus type to another. POWERLINK
supports any combination of asynchronous
and synchronous SCSI devices on the bus.
Because it does not occupy a SCSI bus ID,
POWERLINK is completely transparent to the
rest of the system. Featuring three flexible
extension interfaces, POWERLINK supports
low cost coax for extensions up to 30 metres,
high performance coax to 100 meters, and
fibre optic interfaces for distances from
300 meters to 10Km. POWERLINK’s fibre
optic interface incorporates industry-standard
SC optical connectors. SCSI data is converted
into a proprietary high speed 1.06 Gbps
serial data stream and is transmitted to
another POWERLINK which converts the serial
data stream back to the proper SCSI signals.
Fibre optic open loop protection is also
provided. POWERLINK electronically disconnects
the SCSI bus in the event of a fibre optic
link failure.
