As PTTs reduce the cost of a 2.048Mbps leased line, businesses are increasingly turning to these types of circuits as the primary means for their inter-site communications. The BetterBox® LC2703 gives Network Managers a cost effective yet reliable and versatile solution to the problem of connecting equipment with an X.21 interface (as typically used when connecting to a 64Kbps leased line) to the newer G.703 service (presented by the PTT as either a BNC or RJ45 interface). For quick, simple and hassle free access to an unstructured 2.048Mbps circuit, the LC2703 combines three features in one box. As an access unit the LC2703 receives unstructured, synchronous 2.048Mbps data from a G.703 network and sends it to a router, bridge, multiplexor or other device. As an interface converter the LC2703 accepts 120 Ohm twisted pair or 75 Ohm dual coax network connections. It then converts the signals to an X.21 DB15 female connector. As a rate adapter the LC2703 allows a lower bandwidth device (256Kbps, 512Kbps or 1.024Mbps) to connect to a 2.048Mbps G.703 link. The LC2703 supports internal or network clocking, has a loopback test built in and front panel LEDs to monitor power, network, master clock and test loop.
