The
FLM-1 is a time division multiplexor used
for local point-to-point applications. The
FLM-1 features a built-in-modem which allows
full-duplex communications over single fibre
optic cable, dual fibre optic cable or 4-wire
twisted pair cable. RS-232C/CCITT V.24 connectors
are provided for six asynchronous sub-channels
which can be expanded. One control signal
can be carried per channel when only six
sub channels are used, only full-duplex
data is transmitted end to end. Operating
range between FLM-1 units varies depending
on the composite transmission medium used.
Up to 1 mile (1.6Km) of 22AWG and two twisted
pair wire can be used at a composite data
rate of 1.228 Mbps, and up to 5Km of 50/125
or 100/140 fibre optic cable (single or
dual) with composite data rates of 2.4576
Mbps. Twisted pair connections are made
on a screw terminal block and fibre optic
connections via standard SMA type connectors.
