The
HSSI Fibre Optic Modems convert HSSI copper
interface signals to fibre optic signals
and vice versa. Reliable fibre optic links
between two HSSI devices can be used for
long distances due to the low attenuation
of the fibre optic cables.The HSSI interfaces
of the F5184 meet the requirements described
in the EIA/TIA SP2795 and SP2796 specifications
and comply with these electrical and functional
demands.
As an option the F5184 can support several
HSSI interface speeds, and can further be
equipped with a Network Management System
(NMS) which provides monitoring and configuring
functions. A single fibre option is available,
increasing the efficiency of the existing
cabling system by transmission on one single
fibre instead of two. The HSSI Fibre Optic
Modems F5184 is available as either a standalone
unit or as a rackmount card.
