The
AM2048 2Mbps E1 modem brings broadband speeds to the comprehensive
range of AM-series baseband modems. Using advanced 2B1Q, CAP
(or G.SHDSL) line coding techniques, the AM2048 can drive
up to 2Mbps worth of data over one or two copper pairs –
providing the user with a fully transparent link. A version
of AM2048 is also available providing up to 60km range using
fibre optic technology to transmit the data over a single
optical fibre using bi-directional transmission techniques.
A wide range of modular interfaces incorporating Ethernet
10/100 Base T, G.703, X.21 and V.35 allow maximum flexibility
for applications and deployment of this modem, whether its
connecting LANs using the integrated router module or connecting
remote offices PBX over leased lines and G.703 modules. The
AM2048 is compliant with ETSI ETR152 recommendations. Distances
of up to 5.2km with no line noise, or 2.7km with noise at
the 2Mbps rate on 0.4mm cables are possible. Basic system
configuration and loop setting is from the front panel buttons.
A VT100 menu system is also provided for analysis of detailed
performance figures and comprehensive configuration capabilities
via a PC. The AM2048 may also be used in point to multipoint
mode to drive two remote units at up to 1Mbps from a single
central unit. Mains or DC powering of AM2048 is possible.
For complete managed systems, racks are manageable via SNMP.
