The BetterBox® Model 1194 is a fibre optic multiplexor that operates over one strand of Singlemode fibre and connects up to 4 E1 or T1 devices located as much as 25 km apart. The Model 1194 uses LASER technology and one Fibre strand to deliver high speed, full-duplex, noise-free voice/data to customer locations.The Model 1194 provides PTTs and service providers with cost-effective fibre extension and distribution of T1/E1 network connections from a central office (CO) to a point-of-presence (POP), or in back-haul operation linking T1/E1 equipment in cellular tower sites to local telephone exchanges.
At the CO, the Model 1194 connects to T3/E3/ADM multiplexors and transparently carries framed or unframed T1/E1 multiplexed signals. At a local exchange, the remote Model 1194 recovers the fibre signal, then demultiplexes the signals and converts them to E1/T1 for further termination and distribution to customer premises.
The Model 1194 is available in two versions: the 1194/E1 connects to G.703 (E1) circuits with selectable AMI/HDB3 line coding, while the model 1194/T1 version connects to T1 circuits using AMI/B8ZS coding, and line build-out (LBO) options. Both versions feature network, receive recovered, and internal clock options, all features are easily configured via DIP switches. Built-in V.54/V.52 compliant diagnostics are accessible via front panel switches allowing quick testing and troubleshooting of fibre and network links. The Model 1194 offers options for universal power input (100–240 VAC) and 48 VDC power supplies.
